Sci-Fi Spectacular

Sci-Fi Spectacular, produced by Fingers Crossed Creative is a Newcastle show that mixes live performance, burlesque, circus, music and a love of all things science fiction.

In 2021 some of Newcastle’s best local performers took to the stage for a week of live performances that took over Civic Park with a custom-made stage and festival experience for all who attended. To really experience what this was like, take a browse through the images and watch the super 8 footage of the performances.

We photographed the event on 35mm photographic film and Super 8 motion picture film over a number of days as well as taking portraits of the cast and crew on large format 4x5 film.

At the end of the project we also worked to produce a zine using all the images, as a gift to the cast and crew, for them to remember their experience. This was printed with very bright pink covers of course…. How could we not?

The show was well received, selling out most of their initial dates, and has subsequently been performed at other venues. There are also plans to tour the show in the near future… Watch this space.
