Jay’s award-winning design, typography and art direction has spanned across advertising and design both in England and Australia.
Hailing from sunny Birmingham, Jay learned his craft in the hometown of The Beatles, where he received an Honorary Degree in Graphic Design at Sir John Moore’s University of Liverpool. Inspired by tutors who had designed album covers for the Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols and Led Zeppelin, it was there where his love of music and graphic design was born.
Now, more than ever, is the time for us to be doing something positive for society, communities and our planet. Headjam's ethics, integrity and a talent for awesome design made joining them a no-brainer for me.
Jay went on to spend three years as Head of Design at DDB Sydney, five years as a Senior Designer with Leo Burnett and most recently, Head of Design at CHE Proximity.
Jay has a broad-range portfolio including typography, design and branding for many clients, and has received many international accolades at D&AD, Cannes, One Show, Clio, AWARD Australia, ADMA, Caxton and Folio, helping raise the creative profile of every network he has been part of.
His keenness to work at Headjam and work for more ethical clients has led him to relocate his family to Newcastle. Jay loves music, travel, hand-painted typography, the great outdoors and making delicious beer. Jay is open to any challenge. He’s passionate, committed and enjoys it.
